This project reimagines the history of Korean women in music, blending personal narratives with cultural research to uncover stories often left untold. Through a feminist lens, it explores the intricate relationship between voice and body, challenges traditional narratives, and amplifies the resonance of women’s contributions to audiovisual culture. Structured into three sections, the project bridges historical research and creative practice to present a multifaceted exploration of Korean women’s musical lineage.
"Herstory" presents an autoethnographic documentary that intertwines three generations of maternal genealogy, reclaiming Korean women's embodied voices and stories. "History" creates a chronological archive highlighting women musicians excluded from dominant discourses in Korean music history. "Your Story" opens a participatory space where you can contribute your narratives, building your own musical lineage.
